Facilities Technician

40 hours per week plus overtime as needed; rotates on-call schedule

Summary of function:

The Facilities Technician works with the Facilities Supervisor & Facilities Coordinator to provide a safe environment with quality maintenance for all campus buildings, grounds, equipment, and vehicles on the Ashgrove campus and Safe Haven properties. The Facilities Technician is under the direct supervision of the Facilities Supervisor.

  1. Can support the mission and vision of The Methodist Home as evidenced by compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
  2. Supports and facilitates positive interaction with others as evidenced by: professional maturity, respect for others, ateam-centered approach, maintenance of confidential information, and anappreciation of a multicultural workplace.
  3. Exhibits effective communication skills including proper use of agency communication systems.
  4. Exhibits sound stewardship by effectively managing information resources to achieve the objectives of The Methodist Home.
  5. Supports all functions that attain and maintain accreditation with regulatory agencies.
  6. Participates in appropriate professional development programs and in services to attain and maintain competency.

Supervisory Duties:
Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Assures safe and responsible maintenance, cleanliness, and order of the campus grounds,buildings, vehicles and equipment.
  2. Makes necessary electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration,carpentry, and painting repairs.
  3. Assists in the regular cleaning and organization of all maintenance buildings and storage areas.
  4. Assist with regular building and vehicle inspections.
  5. Assists with timely set-up and take down of all necessary equipment needed for special events.
  6. Assists with donation pickup, delivery, and storage.
  7. Assists with grounds maintenance and snow removal and oversight of external contractors.
  8. Assists with oversight of Facilities related external contractors & outside vendors.
  9. Accountable for inventory control as pertaining to tools, equipment, supply inventories, supplies, office equipment,and furniture including the moving and storage of these items.
  10. Assists with compliance with all external-monitoring agencies including but not limited to fire, OSHA, OIG, COA, and other safety agencies.
  11. Must be available for on call duties at all locations.
  12. Completes assigned tasks in a timely and competent fashion.
  13. Communicates all pertinent information to the Facilities Supervisor or Campus Operations Director.
  14. Accountable for proper & timely completion of all documentation associated with the requirements of the position.
  15. Attends all required meetings and team meetings.  Is prepared to discuss maintenance issues, and is prepared to give a written response when needed.
  16. Other duties as assigned by the Facilities Supervisor or Campus Operations Director.
On-Call Responsibilities:
Job Specifications:
  1. Must be at least 21 years old.
  2. High school diploma or GED required.
  3. Skills in performing the required tasks as listed in the job description.
  4. Is trained and remains current in CPR and First Aid.
  5. Must have a valid Kentucky driver’s license and submit to an intensive background investigation.
