Churches Helping Children

I am blessed to be able to travel across Kentucky and be with churches who care deeply about young people. Recently, I preached at Campbellsville First Methodist Church where I was able to witness firsthand the commitment to young people through two ministries they offer: Holy Threads and Feed My Lambs.

Holy Threads and Feed My Lambs are a clothing and feeding ministry that First Methodist began to serve their community. Holy Threads began in 2017 and has now grown into its ninth year of service. Holy Threads even has a dedicated Children’s section. Feed My Lambs began in 2023 after members of First Methodist felt a call to begin a food ministry. Holy Threads served 137 people in August 2025 alone while Feed My Lambs distributed 149 boxes of food.

Campbellsville First Methodist is most proud of the fact that these ministries have also evolved into a prayer ministry. Each person who comes is asked if they have prayer concerns and/or if they would like to be prayed for or with. Now, many come with prayer requests and share answered prayers. Recently, one person came simply requesting prayer, not food!

Janet Bradley, Campbellsville First Methodist’s Office Administrator, offered the words of Mother Teresa as a guiding principle for each of these two ministries.“If you can’t do great things, do little things with great love. If you can’t do them with great love, do them with a little love. If you can’t do them with a little love, do them anyway. Love grows when people serve.” These words serve as a great challenge to all of us as we continue to care for those in our communities who need help!
